Jaylen Brown is calling out The Worldwide Leader for being a bunch of casuals.
ESPN aired a graphic on Tuesday’s episode of “NBA Today” that seemed to show a trend of the Boston Celtics star Brown failing to share the basketball lately. The graphic pointed out that Brown had 43 total shot attempts over the course of his last two games to go along with zero assists.
Brown was not happy about what the graphic implied though and publicly aired out his gripes.
“Y’all corny watch the game,” Brown replied in an Instagram comment.

The multi-time All-Star Brown is right that the graphic was very misleading, especially over a two-game sample size. Sometimes, a player will miss a shot off the pass from a teammate, denying them the opportunity for an assist. Other times, going up for the shot instead of swinging the ball is the best basketball decision given the circumstances of what the defense is giving you. On top of that, Brown is a wing player who isn’t often tasked with playmaking, so naturally, his assist numbers will be lower.
Nevertheless, Brown, who signed the richest contract in NBA history over the offseason, is a natural target for criticism (including from retired NBA legends). But Brown is still averaging a sturdy 22-5-3 line for an Eastern Conference-best Celtics team that is also integrating Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, so he has to be doing something right.
