Jimmy Butler makes sure 76ers coach knows his name after huge performance
Jimmy Butler put his mark on the Philadelphia 76ers’ Game 2 win over the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Monday night with a big performance, and then he made sure everyone knew his name.
Butler led the Sixers with 30 points, 12 coming in the fourth quarter. He hit a huge 3-pointer with about two minutes left in the game to extend Philly’s lead to seven.

He had such a good all-around game that 76ers head coach Brett Brown said Butler played like a “stud” and was the adult in the gym. He said he was “James Butler” in the performance, not “Jimmy.”
Butler was asked about that after the game and set the record straight: his actual name is Jimmy Butler, not James.

True enough, his full name is Jimmy Butler III.
You put together a performance like that, you make people learn your name. Maybe a more appropriate name is “Jimmy series-saver.”
The Sixers and Raptors are now tied 1-1 in the series.
