Klay Thompson says his girlfriend inspired his huge shooting night
Klay Thompson had one of the best games of his career against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night, and apparently Golden State Warriors fans should be thanking his girlfriend for the fact that he simply could not miss a shot.
Thompson dropped 44 points on an absurd 17-of-20 shooting and 10-of-11 on three-point attempts. He began the game by making his first 10 three-pointers, which is an NBA record. With a number of celebrities at the Staples Center, Klay’s father Mychal calling the game on Lakers radio and his mother in attendance, Thompson was asked after the game if any person in particular inspired his performance. He credited his girlfriend, actress Laura Harrier.
“If it was for anybody, I’d say it was for her,” Thompson told Marcus Thompson III of The Athletic.
Thompson began dating Harrier several months ago, supposedly after he broke up with his ex-girlfriend for sharing too much information about their relationship with gossip publications. Thompson and Harrier have been spotted out in public a couple of times, but this is the first open confirmation Thompson has given that they are dating.
Harrier co-starred in Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman,” which was nominated for four Golden Globes earlier this month. Thompson has dated a number of women who are internet famous, but Harrier may be the first who is Hollywood famous.
