Lou Williams says he will be with Clippers for rest of his career

Lou Williams

The Underground GOAT has finally found a home with the LA Clippers, and he is there to stay.

Appearing Friday on ESPN’s “WYD?” with Rosalyn Gold-Onwude, three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner Lou Williams said that he would be spending the rest of his career with the Clippers.

“I was at a place in my career where I thought I was done,” he said. “[Head coach] Doc [Rivers] and the rest of the guys rejuvenated me again and gave me that confidence that I needed to move forward in my career. I’ve had the best years of my career with the Clippers.

“This is it,” added Williams. “Listen, all teams out there — I’m not playing for anybody else after this.”

The 33-year-old Williams, who is signed through the 2020-21 season, also said in the interview that he believes he has four more high-level years left.

Williams came to the Clippers as part of the Chris Paul trade in 2017, marking the third time that he had been traded in as many years. During his time with them however, he has blossomed into arguably the best bench player in the entire NBA and cemented his reputation as a professional bucket-getter.

The 15-year NBA veteran has also featured heavily in some of the Clippers’ biggest moments in recent seasons, so a ride off into the warm Los Angeles sunset at the end of his career would certainly be a fitting one for Williams.
