Marc Gasol suffers left knee injury, will have MRI (Video)
Marc Gasol left Friday’s Memphis Grizzlies-San Antonio Spurs game in the second quarter after suffering a knee injury.
The team said he suffered a “left knee sprain” and that he will have an MRI on Saturday to determine the extent of the injury.
Gasol was defending Jeff Ayres in the low post early in the second quarter when he hurt his knee. There didn’t seem to be anything specific that caused his knee injury, but he bent over and was clutching his knee in obvious pain.
Gasol is averaging 17.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.2 blocks and a steal per game for the Grizzlies. He had 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists before leaving Friday’s game. The Grizzlies will obviously hope the injury to the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year is not serious.
