
The Phoenix Suns’ decision to fire coach Earl Watson three games into the 2017-18 season looked odd at the time. It looks even stranger now that we have some context to it.
Watson was fired by Phoenix after an 0-3 start last season, in what looked like a rather curious decision. Now, however, Watson has revealed an even stranger detail: he was given a notice of termination in training camp, and the team waited until the season was three games old to actually follow through on it.

This is an incredibly strange way to fire a head coach. Then again, Phoenix ownership has always been pretty tone-deaf, so maybe it isn’t that much of a surprise.
