Denzel Ward had message for Steelers after game
Denzel Ward had a message for the Pittsburgh Steelers after they tried to throw at him to end their Week 17 contest.
Ward’s Cleveland Browns upset the Steelers 13-6 at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday. The Steelers had the ball at the Cleveland 10-yard line needing a touchdown to tie or take the lead. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw to teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling on second, third, and fourth-and-goal. All three passes went incomplete with Ward in coverage, resulting in the Steelers turning the ball over to the Browns on downs.

Ward did not fail to recognize that the Steelers had thrown at him for the final three plays. The 28-year-old cornerback made note of it while speaking with reporters ater the game.
“I just try to make it hard on teams every time they decide to look at the scouting report and see who they’re going to attack and make it hard on them when they come my way. I don’t know whose bright idea it was to try me for the game for three plays in a row, but we was (sic) able to come through and get the win,” Ward said.

— Ashley Bastock (@AshleyBastock42) December 28, 2025
Valdes-Scantling only had 3 catches for 21 yards on 9 targets in the game. Maybe Rodgers defaulted to targeting him because they are old and familiar teammates. It didn’t work out, and now Pittsburgh is 9-7.
Christian Pulisic responds to the Sydney Sweeney dating rumors
Christian Pulisic and Sydney Sweeney are apparently not an item.
The U.S. men’s national soccer team star Pulisic, 27, was the subject of a big viral rumor this weekend linking him romantically to the famous actress Sweeney, 28. It appears that the claim originated from a verified X account based in Europe and spread like wildfire online from there.
The rumor got so out of hand that Pulisic himself issued a response on Sunday. Pulisic commented on an Instagram post about the Sweeney dating claim and called it “fake news.”
“Fake news guys,” Pulisic wrote. “let’s stop with the silly rumor.”
Christian Pulisic confirmed that he is not dating Sydney Sweeney pic.twitter.com/8w6QkiZqS0
— Tactical Manager (@ManagerTactical) December 28, 2025
Pulisic also took to his Instagram Story with another sharp message about the situation.
“Also please stop with the made up stories about my personal life,” Pulisic captioned his Instagram Story post. “Need to hold sources accountable it can affect people’s lives.”

Currently playing at the club level for Italian soccer giant AC Milan, the talented winger Pulisic is also the current face of the USMNT. With the United States set to host the 2026 World Cup this summer (along with neighbors Canada and Mexico), Pulisic’s profile should be especially high in the coming months.
As for the “Euphoria” star Sweeney, she is one of the most famous actresses on the planet right now and is slowly increasing her presence in the sports world as well. Sweeney recently starred as former pro boxer Christy Martin in the 2025 film “Christy” and even drew rave reviews with a surprise cameo during the 2025 MLB World Series.
Draymond Green appears to flip off an opponent during game
Draymond Green may have progressed to a new level of treachery.
Green and the Golden State Warriors met up on Sunday against the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ont. In the third quarter, Green received a pass at the top of the three-point arc.
Raptors forward Scottie Barnes was tasked with defending Green at the time but instead decided to turn his back and let Green shoot the three. Green promptly made Barnes pay and hit the triple with no hesitation to give the Warriors a five-point lead.
After making the shot, Green taunted Barnes by seemingly flipping him off. Here is the video.
Draymond Green flipped off Scottie Barnes after hitting a three pic.twitter.com/Hrs7jm42hH
— Fullcourtpass (@Fullcourtpass) December 28, 2025
That marked Green’s fourth made three-pointer of Sunday’s game. While he is not known as a shooter and is at 32.4 percent from three this season and 32.0 percent for his entire NBA career, Green was certainly hitting them against the Raptors.
While it is possible there that Green was flashing three fingers to Barnes instead to indicate the made three-point basket, that particular video angle certainly made it look like the bird was out. The profane gesture would also be in character for the former Defensive Player of the Year Green, who just made a racial remark at an opponent during a game a few days ago as well.
Maxx Crosby sent a clear message to the Raiders
Maxx Crosby still appears to be angry with the Las Vegas Raiders, and seems to be using social media to send a message to them.
Crosby walked out of the Raiders’ team facility this week after the team opted to shut him down for the final two games of the regular season. Crosby’s lingering knee injury was cited as the reason for the decision.
On Saturday, Crosby seemingly sent the Raiders a message by posting videos of himself playing basketball unhindered. He also shared a photo of himself playing on a trampoline with his daughter.

Maxx Crosby appears to be sending a message that he’s healthy 🤷♂️
(via maxxcrosby/IG) pic.twitter.com/4nccnvSOBY
The message seemed to be quite clear: Crosby feels healthy enough to play, no matter what the Raiders might say.
The Raiders benefit from losing their last two games, as that gives them the best chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick. Crosby has also been playing through the injury for the majority of the season. That led some to question whether the Raiders are tanking by shutting Crosby down, which they have tried to deny.
Crosby has made it abundantly clear that he does not care about tanking. He obviously does not mind putting the organization in an awkward spot publicly, either.
Eagles’ Fred Johnson pulls a boneheaded move to start game vs. Bills
Fred Johnson forgot something kind of important as he ran out there for Sunday’s game.
The Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Johnson went viral during his team’s Week 17 matchup against the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. As the Eagles were running out to the field for their first offensive possession of the game in the first quarter, Johnson forgot a fairly crucial piece of equipment — his helmet.
Here is the surreal video of Johnson jogging out with his teammates with no headgear on (before quickly realizing his mistake and running back towards the sideline).
Eagles' Fred Johnson went out to start the game with no helmet on pic.twitter.com/834zfLFHhm
— Rabbet – P2P Sports Picks (@RabbetApp) December 28, 2025
Johnson was able to promptly retrieve his helmet and rejoin his teammates without missing a single snap. But he will still have a pretty hard time living that one down from here.
Don't forget your helmet!

: FOX pic.twitter.com/xv5fmhZF3L
The 28-year-old Johnson is in his third season on the active roster for the Eagles, operating as both a left tackle and a right tackle. But Johnson is now starting on the right side with Lane Johnson (ankle) currently injured. Sunday’s game against the Bills marked Johnson’s 16th game appearance of the season as well as his seventh total start.
While Johnson is in his seventh career NFL season (and was also a member of the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning team last year), that was very much a rookie mistake on his part. That might have been even worse than the time that an NBA player tried to check into a game while wearing the wrong shorts.
Buffalo Bills run a play called ‘Charlie Sheen’
The Buffalo Bills apparently run a play that is a tribute to famous actor, Charlie Sheen.
The Bills had the ball on their first possession of their Week 17 game at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., on Sunday. Quarterback Josh Allen completed a pass to Dawson Knox for 15 yards, and that’s when FOX announcer Tom Brady talked about the name of the play. Brady says his team used to have the same play and called it “Charlie Sheen.”
“We used to call it ‘Charlie Sheen’ and I know Buffalo still calls it Charlie Sheen. Counter on protection, you pull the guards. Linebackers step up and then Knox crossing the field. You get that separation again,” Brady said of the play.
The good ole Charlie Sheen play #BillsMafia #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/uBQ36XHSeH
— Chris Law (@ChrisLaw) December 28, 2025
Play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt was confused about the origins for the name of the play and asked about it.
“Is that Charlie Sheen because he beat two and a half men on that route? Just trying to figure it out,” Burkhardt asked, referencing Sheen’s famous TV show, “Two and a Half Men.”
Brady didn’t answer and may not have known the origins of the name. Is it a reference to Two and a Half Men? Is it named as such because the play is always a “winning” one, which was the phrase Sheen used to use constantly?
The reason for the name of the play is a good question, and your guess is as good as mine. Why do you think it’s named after Sheen? He is a student of the game, after all.
Panthers bizarrely go into the victory formation while losing
The Carolina Panthers forgot the “victory” part of the victory formation during this weekend’s game.
Carolina faced off on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. They would end up losing in front of their home crowd by a final score of 27-10 and did something rather bizarre in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
After emerging from the two-minute warning with a 2nd-and-7 play from deep in their own territory, the Panthers bizarrely decided to go into the victory formation. They chose to simply run out the clock with three consecutive kneeldowns by quarterback Bryce Young and gave the ball back to the Seahawks after the turnover on downs.
Seattle then had to run a kneeldown of their own with 34 seconds left to officially close out the game. Here is a screenshot of the Panthers going into the victory formation … while losing by 17 points.

— John Stanton's Red Headed Stepchild (@bigwormjerm) December 28, 2025
Jon Bois of SB Nation pointed out that it was just the third time since 1978 that an NFL team had knelt in the fourth quarter on a fourth-down play while losing.
The thought from the Panthers’ perspective was obviously to avoid the risk of injury in a game that was already decided. But even so, teams in those circumstances will usually continue to play until the final whistle, and if anything will just pull their starters in favor of the second-stringers to mitigate that injury risk.
Fortunately for Carolina, the NFC South rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers also lost on Sunday to the Miami Dolphins, meaning that the division title will all come down to the Carolina-Tampa Bay showdown in Week 18. But that was still an extremely strange way for the Panthers to end their final regular season home game of the 2025 campaign. Perhaps it was on-brand for Carolina though given that they have managed to make headlines multiple times this season now for unflattering on-field spectacles.
Browns throw shade at Ravens after saving their season
The Cleveland Browns were not in the mood for pleasantries after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, keeping the Baltimore Ravens’ playoff hopes alive.
The Browns beat the Steelers 13-6 at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Oh. on Sunday, ensuring that the AFC North will not be decided until Week 18. The Steelers would have clinched the division and eliminated the Ravens with a win, but failed to even find the end zone.
That meant the Ravens remain alive and will travel to Pittsburgh in Week 18 for a division-deciding game. Needless to say, their social media account was quite enthusiastic about the opportunity and offered the Browns a shoutout.
The Browns weren’t having it.
“Don’t think we did this for you,” they replied.
don't think we did this for you 😒 https://t.co/0T2doJI1o5
— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) December 28, 2025
The Browns and Ravens have a longstanding rivalry, but so do the Browns and Steelers. They couldn’t really win either way here, so they’re best served by focusing on their victory and leaving it at that.
The Ravens were pulling hard for the Browns on Sunday and made no secret of it. If they manage to win the division, they will have Cleveland, in part, to thank.
Philip Rivers lost his mind at the referees
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers delivered an all-time referee tantrum during Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Rivers was livid after officials prevented him from getting the snap off during the third quarter of Sunday’s game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. Rivers had just completed an 18-yard pass to Josh Downs on the previous play, but it was not clear if Downs had gotten both feet down in bounds.
Rivers tried to rush the snap, but the referees were not having it, and the quarterback was furious.
Philip Rivers was visibly upset with the officials after the play.

Ironically, Rivers had nothing to worry about. The catch was upheld on review, though it was not at all clear if that would be the case when the challenge flag was initially thrown.
There is no question that Rivers has not lost his competitive fire or intensity. It is part of what has made his comeback so endearing, along with his age.
Rivers and the Colts will not be going to the playoffs, as Baltimore’s win on Saturday night eliminated them. The Jaguars wound up defeating them on Sunday, 23-17.
Mike Vrabel tried to embarrass the Jets
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel seemingly wanted to send a message to the New York Jets at the end of the first half of Sunday’s game.
Vrabel was unhappy after Patriots quarterback Drake Maye took a big hit late in the first half of Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson was called for roughing the passer, and Vrabel was worried enough that he went out on the field to check on his quarterback.

— New England Sports Fellow (@_JosephManning) December 28, 2025
Vrabel seemingly decided to send a message after the play. The Patriots were already up 28-3 at this point, and the New England offense promptly went into two-minute drill mode and marched down the field to make it 35-3.
The Patriots coach was not finished there. He used his final timeout with the Jets facing a 3rd and 13 from their own 32, forcing the Jets to run one final play instead of heading to the locker room.
Vrabel seemed to say “f— ’em” after using the timeout.
Mike Vrabel clearly says “F*ck em” after calling a timeout up 35-3.
— Kevin Moore (@KMooreTV) December 28, 2025
Drake Maye and Brenden Schooler’s faces are hilarious. Patriots and Jets rivalry is very much alive. pic.twitter.com/NYWpQ5Rjhj
Vrabel is well-versed in how the Patriots operate. He most certainly remembers the lengths Bill Belichick went to just to toy with the organization. This might not be at that level, but it certainly represents the Patriots rubbing the Jets’ noses in it a bit.
The Patriots went to the locker room with a 35-3 lead. That may be all the statement that the Patriots needed to make.
Report reveals whether Todd Bowles could be fired by Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ collapse this season has led some to wonder if coach Todd Bowles could take the fall for their poor finish.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that there is virtually no chance Bowles will be fired at the end of the season even if the Buccaneers do not win the NFC South. He pointed to the coach’s recent accomplishments as a major reason.
“Todd Bowles received a 3-year contract extension before the season. He is under contract through 2028,” Rapoport said on NFL Network. “They have won three straight division titles and still have a possibility of winning their fourth. Does that sound like someone who should be in trouble? I would say certainly not.”
From @NFLGameDay Morning: The status of #49ers TE George Kittle (ankle) is in doubt tonight, but he's intent on working out to see; Meanwhile, the #Bucs face a must-win today, which has led some to wonder about coach Todd Bowles. pic.twitter.com/Nlu2KIC6AB
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 28, 2025
The Buccaneers started the season 6-2 and looked like they were going to cruise to a division title. Since then, they have lost six of seven, and Carolina has overtaken them in a standings. Bowles has seemingly been feeling the pressure and frustration in recent weeks as well.
The late-season swoon is undoubtedly a source of concern for the Buccaneers, but not enough to seriously put Bowles on the hot seat. He is 34-32 overall with Tampa Bay, but as Rapoport noted, they have won the NFC South in each of his three full seasons to date.
The Buccaneers do technically control their own destiny. They face Carolina in Week 18, so if they win on Sunday, they will essentially set up a winner-take-all season finale.
Matt Ryan could join Falcons in ‘significant’ role
Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan could be returning to the organization in a significant role.
The Falcons have had discussions with Ryan about the former quarterback taking on a “significant” front office position, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. Ryan is said to be seriously considering the opportunity.

— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) December 28, 2025
This is probably not comforting to general manager Terry Fontenot, who was already thought to be on the hot seat. It suggests Ryan could have significant say in the franchise’s operations if he opts to take the job, even though he has no real experience in that sort of role.
Ryan spent 14 of his 15 NFL seasons with the Falcons and won MVP honors in 2016. Since retiring, he has worked as an NFL analyst for CBS Sports. He had eyed a broadcasting career late in his playing days, but never really demonstrated any ambition to get involved with running a team.
The Falcons are playing out a disappointing 6-9 season, and major changes are certainly possible at the end of the season. Adding Ryan to the front office in any capacity would certainly shake things up, and may be a precursor to even more personnel moves.
Brian Flores could leave Vikings for rival NFC team
Brian Flores has won plaudits for his work as Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator, but his contract is expiring at the end of the season. That could open the door for one prominent rival to poach him.
The Dallas Cowboys are viewed as likely to make a play for Flores, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Other teams could also be interested in Flores, which could spark a bidding war for his services.
It is unclear how far the Vikings are willing to go to keep Flores. He could also be in play for head coaching openings, though that is less of a certainty.
The Vikings have excelled defensively under Flores. They are ninth in the league in points allowed this season and would almost certainly be a playoff team with better offensive play. While his temperament has been questioned, it is hard to argue with the results he has gotten.
The Cowboys still have a defensive coordinator in Matt Eberflus, but the unit has struggled all season, and he seems almost certain to lose his job. His potential replacement may come down to whether Jerry Jones is willing to be aggressive and spend big to bring in someone of Flores’ stature.
Tyler Huntley sent a message to Shedeur Sanders after Ravens’ win
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley led his team to a huge win on Saturday against the Green Bay Packers to keep their playoff hopes alive. He needs some help, however, to ensure that their Week 18 game is a meaningful one.
The Ravens beat the Green Bay Packers 41-24 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisc. to keep their playoff hopes alive for at least one more day. The Ravens now need the Cleveland Browns to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday to set up what would essentially be a winner-take-all game between Baltimore and Pittsburgh in Week 18.
Huntley has one notable contact on the Browns, however, that he will be pushing for a win. He got to knew Shedeur Sanders during his short stint with Cleveland during the preseason, and after Saturday’s game, he made it clear he would be delivering a message to Cleveland’s rookie quarterback.
“I’m trying to make it out of here so I can call Shedeur real quick. Make sure he can get it done,” Huntley said.
"I'm trying to get out of here so I can call Shedeur. Make sure he can get it done." @_SNOOP1 pic.twitter.com/0aY9GVef3X
— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) December 28, 2025
If the Steelers beat the Browns, they will win the AFC North and eliminate the Ravens. Huntley and his teammates will obviously be pulling hard for Cleveland as a result.
Huntley started for the injured Lamar Jackson on Saturday and did everything the Ravens could have reasonably asked of him. He threw for 107 yards and a touchdown and also ran eight times for 60 yards.
Ex-NBA coach has harsh reality check for LeBron James
Former NBA coach Sam Mitchell had a very bold take about LeBron James’ value at this stage of his career.
In an appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Mitchell indicated that James is no longer anyone’s first option, and that the legendary forward is struggling to accept that reality. Mitchell even said James would not be the first option on the Washington Wizards, one of the league’s worst teams.
“This is what LeBron doesn’t understand. It hasn’t sunk in,” Mitchell said. “Whatever team you go to, you’re the third option. You’re not going to a team when you’re the first option anymore. If you went to the Washington Wizards, you would still not be the number one option.”
One can certainly dispute Mitchell’s view of James at this stage in his career. He would probably be the go-to ahead of CJ McCollum on Washington, for instance. It is fair to suggest, however, that James is taking on a more supporting role in his career. He is the Lakers’ third-leading scorer this season behind Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, and his 6.8 assists per game are down significantly from 8.2 last season.
We still do not know if this is James’ final NBA season. His mind certainly seems elsewhere at times. He can certainly still contribute in a big way, and he might even appreciate a lighter load at this stage of his career, but it is clear he is not the focal point anymore in the same way he used to be.
Jordan Poole had the greatest reaction to Jose Alvarado’s punch
New Orleans Pelicans guard Jordan Poole had a fantastic reaction to the fight that erupted at the end of Saturday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.
Alvarado and Suns center Mark Williams got into an on-court fight during the third quarter of Saturday’s game at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La. Alvarado was trying to fight through a Williams screen when they got into a physical altercation that ended with them throwing punches at each other (video here).
Perhaps the best reaction, however, came from Poole, who had an up-close look at Alvarado taking a swing at Williams. His facial expression, a mixture of surprised and impressed, pretty much summed things up.

Poole made a rather half-hearted attempt to try and get between Alvarado and Williams, but perhaps wisely, he did not get too involved. He is, after all, entirely too well-acquainted with getting punched in the face.
Poole’s reaction was, unfortunately for the Pelicans, his primary contribution to Saturday’s game. He scored just one point in 14 minutes of action in a 123-114 defeat.
Nikola Vucevic threw shade at Giannis Antetokounmpo after their on-court confrontation
Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic took a jab at Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo Saturday after the two had a testy confrontation at the United Center in Chicago, Ill.
Antetokounmpo drew the ire of the entire Bulls roster when he threw down a windmill dunk in the closing seconds of the Bucks’ 112-103 win. Vucevic was the first to approach Giannis after the dunk, with several upset Bulls players soon surrounding the Bucks star (video here).
Vucevic was asked about the incident after the game. The two-time All-Star claimed Antetokounmpo was acting out for a particular reason.
“I’m assuming Giannis was mad about that report that came out the Bulls didn’t want to trade for him,” Vucevic said. “I asked him why you did that. He said, ‘Yeah, you guys didn’t want to trade for me.’”

The mild-mannered Vucevic would not confirm whether Antetokounmpo actually said those words, but it seemed like his cheeky attempt to let Giannis know he was unwanted in Chicago.
Antetokounmpo explained the dunk was more about the future than the past. He told reporters that he was trying to “wake up” his team, which currently sits outside the postseason picture in the shallow East.
“I’ve been 13 years in the league,” Giannis said, via ESPN’s Jamal Collier. “If we keep on losing, probably half of the team not going to be here. We’re not going to make the playoffs…. And if [a windmill dunk] is what has to happen for everybody to wake up and understand we’re fighting for our lives, so be it.”
The report in question was from Chicago sports broadcaster Lou Canellis, who shared on local radio that Antetokounmpo’s team reportedly contacted the Bulls about a potential move but got shot down.
The veracity of the report remains unclear, but it was clear enough for Vucevic to use it as media-scrum ammunition against his European rival.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s showboat move in final seconds sparks Bulls-Bucks scuffle
The Chicago Bulls did not take kindly to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s dunk in the closing seconds of a Milwaukee Bucks win.
The Bucks led the Bulls 110-103 with just seconds remaining on the clock as Antetokounmpo got the ball across the halfcourt line at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. With no defenders in his path, Giannis decided to give the road fans a thrill with a windmill dunk just before the final buzzer.
The Chicagoans in attendance seemed to appreciate the slam, but the Bulls players did not. Bulls center Nikola Vucevic confronted Antetokounmpo at center court. Soon, other Bulls players gathered around the Greek Freak to give him him a scolding.

A scuffle ensued shortly after as Bucks players came to Giannis’ defense. The fracas was successfully contained without the scene escalating beyond pushing and shoving.
“We’re 11th in the East. … Got to keep finding an identity,” Antetokounmpo said of the dunk and ensuing altercation, via ESPN’s Jamal Collier. “If that’s to get a little bit scrappy at the end, so be it. We’re not the champs. Why should we play the clock out, have respect, and fair play? We’re fighting for our lives right now.”
It’s long been an unwritten rule in basketball that any team holding a decisive lead with possession in the closing seconds must dribble out the clock rather than pad their advantage even further. Some folks, including Bulls announcer Stacey King in the above clip, have pushed back on the practice.
Tempers were flaring all across the NBA on Saturday, as a fight also broke out in New Orleans that saw Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado punch Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams square in the jaw.
Fans had jokes over Jordan Poole’s reaction to his teammate throwing a punch
Fans saw the amusement in Jordan Poole watching a punch get thrown during Saturday’s New Orleans Pelicans-Phoenix Suns game.
Poole’s Pelicans teammate Jose Alvarado and Suns center Mark Williams both got ejected after getting into a scuffle during the third quarter at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La. Alvarado, who stands more than a foot shorter than the 7’1″ Williams, connected on a right straight that clocked Williams in the jaw.
Poole had the perfect angle to witness the punch. The Pelicans’ sixth man had a bewildered reaction to the incident.

Poole didn’t let the moment bother him for too long. He finished the game with 19 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 6 assists in a 115-108 loss to the Suns. Williams left the contest with 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Suns, while Alvarado had 11 points and 2 assists off New Orleans’ bench.
Despite being several years removed from the incident with Green, the infamous punch still haunts Poole to this day. That probably won’t change anytime soon.
LeBron James ripped over video of him seemingly disrespecting the national anthem
LeBron James is sparking backlash this week due to a video of him supposedly disrespecting the national anthem.
The Los Angeles Lakers faced off on Thursday’s Christmas Day against the Houston Rockets at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Calif. As the national anthem played in the background right before the contest, the Lakers star forward James could be seen on the side facing away from center court and simply continuing his pregame stretching routine (instead of standing at attention out of deference to and respect for the anthem).
James was making such exaggerated arm motions while the anthem played that ESPN posted the clip to their TikTok page along with the caption “Bron working on his golf swing?” As such, the four-time NBA champion received sharp criticism online for seemingly failing to respect the national anthem.
Here is the video.

The soon-to-be 41-year-old James, who may be in his final NBA season, finished Thursday’s game with 18 points, two rebounds, and five assists in 32 minutes played. The Lakers lost to the Rockets by an ugly final score of 119-96 however, marking their third consecutive loss.
That video of James, meanwhile, reopened a sore spot for many fans. During the 2020 NBA bubble in Orlando, Fla., James notably joined countless other players and also coaches who chose to kneel during the playing of the national anthem before games. James once clashed with President Donald Trump over the anthem issue as well.
