Ex-West Virginia football star arrested on disturbing charges

A former West Virginia football star was arrested over the weekend and is facing several disturbing charges that could send him to prison for a very long time if he is convicted.

Law enforcement officials told TMZ that former West Virginia and Atlanta Falcons running back Jordan Crawford was taken into custody on Saturday and charged with incest, child molestation, sodomy and enticing a child for indecent purposes, which are all felonies. The 23-year-old has been accused of — and allegedly admitted to — having a sexual encounter with a 12-year-old girl.

The victim told police she was asleep when Crawford began sexually assaulting her. Officials said Crawford’s wife caught him in the act early Saturday morning, and he eventually admitted to having intercourse with the girl and said it was her idea.

Crawford had back-to-back rushing seasons with the Mountaineers and signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent earlier this year. He appeared in some preseason games and did not make the regular season roster. Crawford had signed with the Atlanta Legends of the new Alliance of American Football League, which is set to begin play in February.

Crawford is being held in jail without bond.
