Nebraska fell to USC 45-42 in the Holiday Bowl in what was the Cornhuskers’ first game since the university fired head coach Bo Pelini. While Pelini has moved on, and has his sights set on Youngstown State, his presence was felt as Nebraska headed to Qualcomm Stadium for Saturday’s game.
“#Huskers Team Buses en route to Holiday Bowl. Front Seat on Bus 1 empty in honor of Coach Bo. Been a great ride. #GBR” wrote Austen Everson, Nebraska’s Assistant Director of Football Business Operations, on his Twitter account along with posting the above photo.
Quarterback Tommy Armstrong voiced his displeasure with Pelini’s firing and a few recruits decommitted from the school following the move. Although Nebraska chose to go another route with the hire of Mike Riley from Oregon State, it’s obvious Bo Pelini made a lasting impression on several throughout the football program.
