49ers RB Tevin Coleman has high-ankle sprain
San Francisco 49ers running back Tevin Coleman was already expected to miss time due to an ankle injury he sustained during the team’s Week 1 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. Now we’re learning the nature of the injury.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Monday that Coleman has a high-ankle sprain.
Tevin Coleman sustained a high ankle sprain. They will not have to place him on IR. The team will most likely have to add a running back.

Shanahan does not believe Coleman needs to go on injured reserve, which is a positive sign about his return. But the team will likely need to add a running back to the roster.
Matt Breida would be expected to take over as the lead back for the Niners. Jeff Wilson, who played in six games for the team last year, could be added to the roster.
