The ending of the AFC Championship on Sunday raised some complaints over the NFL’s overtime rules, but don’t expect Andy Reid to join in.
The Kansas City Chiefs coach admitted that he wished his team had had a chance to play on offense in their 37-31 loss to the New England Patriots, but noted that he supports the current rules and isn’t going to spend time complaining about them.
Andy Reid has sat in on meetings where everyone would go back and forth discussing the overtime format. Said it’s what the league came up with and added he supports it. But obviously said, “I sure would have liked another crack at it."

Many would like to see the NFL adopt a set of overtime rules that ensure both teams get a chance with the ball, but the reality is every system will be flawed. Reid is probably right not to harp on it. Besides, there were other things the Chiefs did wrong down the stretch that could have prevented overtime in the first place.
