Antonio Cromartie released by Jets
The New York Jets announced on Monday that they have released veteran cornerback Antonio Cromartie.
Cromartie struggled in 2015, posting just 33 total tackles and not intercepting a pass for the first time since his rookie season. He was entering the second year of a four-year, $32 million contract he signed last offseason. By releasing him, the Jets save $8 million in non-guaranteed money before the start of next season.
Cromartie was in his second stint with the Jets after Todd Bowles brought him back to play alongside Darrelle Revis. He spent four seasons with the team from 2010-2013 before signing with the Arizona Cardinals for a season and returning last year.
The 31-year-old was not worth the type of money he was set to make in 2016, though he will likely have no trouble finding work at a cheaper rate.
Cromartie has already been busy this offseason, as his wife Terricka revealed some big news last month. The four-time Pro Bowler has 31 career interceptions.
