New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is very literally the greatest of all-time, but you still shouldn’t call him the “G.O.A.T.”
After winning his sixth Super Bowl title in a 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams — the first player ever to do so — Brady appeared on Good Morning America and explained the awkwardness that arises when someone refers to him as the “G.O.A.T.”
“I don’t even like it. It makes me cringe,” Brady said. “I guess I take compliments worse than I … I wish you would say, ‘You’re trash, you’re too old, you’re too slow, you can’t get it done no more,’” And I’ll say, ‘Thank you very much, I’ll prove you wrong.’”
Both Brady and the Patriots thrived in the moments they perceived themselves to be the underdog this season, even going as far as to carry that line of thinking into the Super Bowl in which they were odds-on favorites. But whether he likes it or not, Brady is very literally the G.O.A.T.
