The New York Giants were bound to face some tough questions after losing their fourth consecutive game to start the season, but Brandon Marshall doesn’t have to answer them.
While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Marshall made it clear he wasn’t even going to acknowledge questions about what has resulted in the Giants having a record of 0-4.
“I don’t want to spend my time talking about what we did in Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4. If we do that we’re not going to get out of the hole that we’ve dug,” he said, per John Healy of the New York Daily News. “I’m moving on. So I respectfully decline any questions about culture, any questions about our losing streak, my play – my play hasn’t been where I wanted it to be, I need to pick it up – but I’m not going to waste time talking about a losing environment.”

When the Giants signed Marshall, people began talking about him and Odell Beckham Jr. potentially forming the best wide receiver duo in football. Instead, Marshall has just 16 catches for 139 yards in four games. He has yet to find the end zone.
“I haven’t played the way I wanted to play,” Marshall admitted. “I hold myself to a high standard. The guys around here hold me to a high standard. We have high expectations on all of us and looking at myself in the mirror, I want to pick up my play. I’ll do that. I don’t want to waste too much time thinking about the past. If I do that the future is going to be really ugly.”
A win could finally be on the horizon for New York with the Los Angeles Chargers coming to town Sunday. However, the Chargers have their own 0-4 record and are equally anxious to get into the win column. If Ben McAdoo’s biggest fear about his players is realized, the Giants could risk falling to 0-5.
Before the season, many felt the Giants would be a contender in the NFC. Roughly a month later, they look more like they could be a contender for the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft.
