A report on Sunday indicated that the Cleveland Browns could make history by interviewing a female for their head coaching vacancy. If that happens, the female candidate apparently will not be Condoleezza Rice.
Not long after ESPN’s Adam Schefter cited sources who said the Browns are interested in Rice as a potential head coach, Cleveland general manager John Dorsey issued a statement saying the former US Secretary of State is not being considered.

The fact that Dorsey felt the need to address the report probably gives you an idea of how strongly Browns fans felt about it.
Rice is a lifelong Browns who has been heavily involved with college football. She served on the College Football Playoff Committee from 2013 to 2016. The 64-year-old also sat on a commission that recommended major changes to college basketball that include doing away with the one-and-done rule, and she became one of the first female members to join Augusta National Golf Club back in 2012. Her background with sports is extensive.
It would have been shocking if Rice was a legitimate contender to be Cleveland’s next head coach given some of the names we have already heard linked to the job.
