Christian McCaffrey takes big step toward 2024 debut
San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey might finally be on the verge of making his season debut.
The 49ers announced on Monday that they have opened McCaffrey’s 21-day practice window. McCaffrey was then spotted on the practice field going through some light work:

The Niners had previously indicated that McCaffrey could return to action following their Week 9 bye, and the All-Pro running back is now on schedule to do just that. It is possible McCaffrey will play when the 49ers travel to Tampa to take on the Buccaneers this week.
McCaffrey has not played this season due to Achilles tendonitis, possibly in both of his legs. The 49ers may need him more than ever now that one of their other top playmakers is out for the season with a knee injury.
In his first full season with the 49ers last year, McCaffrey rushed for a career-high 1,459 yards and averaged 5.4 yards per carry. He also had 564 receiving yards and scored 21 total touchdowns.
While San Francisco’s running game has been great with Jordan Mason during McCaffrey’s absence, a healthy McCaffrey could make a massive difference for the Niners over the second half of the season.
