Colts ‘surprised and disappointed’ Josh McDaniels backed out of agreement
The Indianapolis Colts have been forced to search for a new head coach after they were led to believe they had their next guy in place, and you can probably guess how thrilled they are about it.
Shortly after reports surfaced that Josh McDaniels has backed out of his agreement, the Colts issued a statement confirming the bad news and saying the team is “surprised and disappointed.”

The Colts had announced earlier on Tuesday that McDaniels would be introduced as their new head coach in a press conference on Wednesday, but reports have indicated that they had a feeling the New England Patriots offensive coordinator might change his mind. In fact, they supposedly already have candidates lined up that they are ready to interview.
McDaniels will remain with the Patriots in 2018 after owner Robert Kraft reportedly gave him a raise and convinced him to stay. There has been some speculation that this means he is the head coach in waiting in New England, but that is not necessarily the case.
