Dan Campbell feels Lions proved 1 narrative wrong by beating Packers

The Detroit Lions dominated the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday, and head coach Dan Campbell believes the performance proved that one particular narrative surrounding his team is inaccurate.

The Lions played excellent defensively and had a strong ground attack en route to a convincing 24-14 win over the Packers. Jared Goff was also an efficient 18/22 for 145 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions on a wet day where both teams had to deal with downpours and muddy conditions.

After the Lions improved to 7-1, Campbell said his team is built to handle less-than-ideal conditions despite playing their home games indoors at Ford Field.

“I’m not shocked one bit that we came out here and played pretty good football out in the elements. We’re built for this, man,” Campbell said. “Just because we play indoors, it doesn’t matter. We can play anywhere. We can play in the snow, play in the rain, play in the mud. That’s just us, we’re built to win.”

The Lions have taken on Campbell’s hard-nosed mentality, and it has served them well. Though they play their games indoors on turf and have an explosive offense, they are not a finesse team. Detroit has an outstanding running back duo in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, who combined for 138 yards against Green Bay.

By defeating the Packers on the road in nasty weather, the Lions showed they are capable of beating opponents in multiple ways. That is what Super Bowl contenders do, and Detroit certainly looks like a legitimate one this season.
