Derek Carr out 2-6 weeks with fracture in back

Derek Carr back

Derek Carr’s back injury is more serious than initially believed, and the Oakland Raiders could be without their star quarterback for quite some time.

Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio announced on Monday that Carr has a fracture in his back and will be out anywhere from two to six weeks.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the day that Carr was experiencing back spasms and some soreness but was not expected to miss time.

Carr took a knee to the lower back during Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos and was able to walk off the field under his own power. Oakland initially seemed optimistic that he would be fine going forward, but Carr’s MRI obviously revealed bad news.
