Report: Derrius Guice walked back allegations of inappropriate combine questions
Some NFL teams are reportedly souring on former LSU running back Derrius Guice for a variety of reasons.
Guice, widely regarded as one of the best non-Saquon Barkley backs available in the NFL Draft, alleged after the NFL Combine that he was asked very inappropriate questions in private interviews with teams. According to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero, however, Guice has privately admitted to teams that he took the remarks out of context.
“His explanation was that it was taken out of context,” one executive told Pelissero. “There’s just a lot going on with him.”
Executives added that this, along with other factors, may hurt Guice’s draft stock, as he was privately described as “high-maintenance” and “immature,” though they did praise his talent.
Interestingly, reporting at the time confirmed that the question was asked, and the NFL is still investigating. Perhaps Guice embellished something or left out some important context, but whatever the case, some NFL teams have definitely seem something that they don’t love.
