Deshaun Watson may be dealing with a back injury sustained during “Monday Night Football,” but he sure wasn’t showing it.
Watson appeared to hurt his lower back or hip area on a dive into the end zone on a 21-yard rushing touchdown early in the second quarter to put his Houston Texans up 7-0 on the New Orleans Saints.
Watson went into the medical tent afterwards but did not miss any playing time.
ESPN reporter Lisa Salters asked Watson about his injury status at halftime. She reported that he told her he was “fine” and only had a bruise. Salters noted that Watson was the last player out of the locker room.
The third-year quarterback sure played like he was fine. He looked great leading the Texans on a third quarter touchdown drive to go up 21-10. Watson was 14/21 for 160 yards, two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown to that point.
