Dez Bryant signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys over the summer, and that should give him more than enough money to pay off old debts.
He might want to start with Uncle Sam.
According to records obtained by TMZ, Bryant never paid the $79,274.75 he owed in income taxes back in 2013. The IRS filed a federal tax lien against him as a result. Bryant’s salary was south of $2 million that season.
Bryant will likely pay the back taxes sooner rather than later, as he should have more than enough money sitting in his bank account now. However, the fact that Bryant owed that much money helps shed some light on the report about the Cowboys supposedly calling his bluff before signing him to a long-term extension. We also heard several years ago that Bryant had financial issues with some expensive jewelry. Perhaps he really did need that fat new contract.
