The broadcasting crew for Saturday night’s Wild Card playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. had fans asking a question: where’s Cris Collinsworth?

Collinsworth typically teams with play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico to announce games for NBC. But NBC had three games on Wild Card Weekend, and Collinsworth was only scheduled to call one of the games. Collinsworth was set to team with Tirico to call the game in their usual Sunday night spot. That game is between the Lions and Los Angeles Rams in Detroit.

Tirico called the Chiefs-Dolphins game in Kansas City on Saturday night with Jason Garrett. So while Collinsworth only was scheduled to serve as an analyst for one of the games, Tirico was on double duty for the weekend.

The first playoff game of the weekend was early on Saturday between the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns. NBC utilized its Saturday night college football team of Noah Eagle and Todd Blackledge for that game. Though Eagle and Blackledge typically call college games, their broadcast of the AFC wild card game was well-received.

And fans who are used to routine will have their expectations met when Tirico and Collinsworth are on the call for the Lions-Rams game on Sunday night.
