Report: Jaguars plan to stick with Gardner Minshew after Nick Foles’ injury
For the moment, the Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly don’t plan on seeking out a veteran replacement for injured quarterback Nick Foles.
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Jaguars are comfortable with rookie Gardner Minshew under center. While it is possible that someone is brought in to solidify the position until Foles returns, Minshew has the starting job.
While Jaguars expect Nick Foles to be out a stretch, they feel comfortable for now with rookie Gardner Minshew as starting QB and believed he proved why after Foles was hurt. That doesn’t rule out getting some experience to secure the position but Minshew is the starter.

A 6th round rookie, Minshew definitely didn’t expect to be called upon to start games this soon. He showed against the Kansas City Chiefs that he was at least up to that task, though. After Foles got hurt, Minshew came in and went 22-of-25 for 275 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. That’s plenty good enough as a stopgap, though it remains to be seen if he can keep it up.
Foles is out indefinitely after breaking his clavicle in the first quarter on Sunday.
