Sunday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers looked like it would be one of the NFL’s better games on Sunday. FOX made it the network’s Game of the Week, although many viewers were switched to the Arizona Cardinals-Detroit Lions game because the Packers had their way with the Eagles.
Green Bay ended up winning 53-20, and it really didn’t feel that close.
After the game, Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was understandably not pleased with the team’s performance. He even went as far as to say a certain team that is still winless on the season would no longer be winless had they played Philadelphia that day.
“We got our ass kicked,” Jeremy Maclin said via CSN Philly.
“It’s the National Football League man. The way we played today, it wouldn’t matter if we played Oakland, who hasn’t won a game yet — they would have beat the hell out of us too. We just didn’t play well.”
“No disrespect to Green Bay. Great football team. They played great today. But the way we played today, we wouldn’t have beaten anybody.”
The Raiders need to a win in the worst way to get rid of that goose egg in the win column.
Not that it will make anyone in the Eagles locker room feel any better at this point, but they did run into a quarterback in Aaron Rodgers who is playing on another level right now. Philadelphia still leads the NFC North so it’s clearly not time to panic. However, more showings like the one on Sunday wouldn’t be in the Eagles’ best interest with the playoffs approaching.
