Jeremy Maclin: Torn ACL a ‘minor setback’
The Philadelphia Eagles were dealt a major blow on Saturday when wide receiver Jeremy Maclin suffered a torn ACL in practice. As a result, he will miss the entire 2013 season.
The 25-year-old was poised for a breakout year and expected by many to be the top receiving option for either Michael Vick or Nick Foles. Now, Maclin has a long road to recovery. At least he’s tackling it with a positive attitude.
“Appreciate all the love and support twitter fam….sad day but I have setbacks my entire life,” Maclin wrote on Twitter Saturday. “Minor setback for a MAJOR comeback! #birdgang.”
Obviously, a torn ACL is a major setback no matter how you look at it. Adrian Peterson somehow had a career year after undergoing reconstructive surgery, and Maclin will have more recovery time than AP did. It’s very possible that he could come back at full strength in 2014, but missing all of the 2013 season will be difficult for Maclin and the team. Such is the life of a professional athlete.
