JJ Watt returns to practice, expected to play in playoffs
JJ Watt is less than two months removed from suffering a torn pectoral muscle, but the Houston Texans star is ready to play football again.
The Texans designated Watt for return from the injured reserve list on Tuesday, and he will begin practicing immediately. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the plan is still for Watt to play in the postseason.

Texans don’t have to make a decision on Watt’s playing status until they believe he’s ready. He’ll have two weeks of practice.

Watt’s season was believed to be over when he suffered a torn pec muscle in Week 8, but he has made an extremely fast recovery. He recently hinted in a funny tweet about his brother TJ that he expects to play again this year, and he is now on track to do that.
The Texans don’t have much to play for in Week 17, which gives them the luxury of being able to give Watt another two weeks to get up to speed. They would be locked into the No. 4 seed in the AFC if the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers at home on Sunday, and Houston will likely know the result of that game before their afternoon kickoff against the Tennessee Titans.
