Julian Edelman critical of himself over training camp struggles
Julian Edelman will have longer than most players to prepare for the regular season as he serves a four-game suspension, but the star wide receiver does not like where he is at roughly two months before he sees meaningful action.
Edelman has struggled a bit in training camp, and he openly acknowledged that when speaking with the media on Friday.
Edelman on his early camp struggles, "I don’t have football legs and it’s evident out there. You get tired, you create bad habits, you don’t run your routes right and you get yelled at in meetings for it…I got to pick it up."

Edelman has been Tom Brady’s most reliable target for several seasons now, but there are plenty of question marks surrounding the 32-year-old this offseason. While some feel it will be beneficial to Edelman to have the first four games off given his age and injury history, it’s fair to wonder how much the missed time will hurt him. He’s coming off a torn ACL and has battled foot injuries in the past, so he may have trouble getting back up to game speed.
The Patriots are bringing in a well-known veteran who can hopefully fill some of the void left by Edelman’s suspension, but Edelman will be as important as ever in New England this season with Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks gone.
