Kyle Long appears to retire in Twitter announcement

Kyle Long

Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long appeared to announce his retirement from the NFL on Sunday.

In a Twitter post, the veteran said he was “stepping away and getting my body right” after concluding his seventh NFL season.

Long has dealt with injuries for each of the last four seasons. In 2019, a hip injury limited him to just four games, and he hasn’t played more than ten games in a season since 2015. While he’s vague about whether he’s stepping away briefly or quitting for good, it would be understandable for Long to get away from football and rest his body.

The 31-year-old spent his entire career with the Bears. He had a club option for the 2020 season. While not always the most popular member of the team, he certainly showed his wit on Twitter and was a pretty reliable lineman for quite a while as well.
