Lamarr Houston: Aaron Rodgers is ‘a little too arrogant’

Lamarr-Houston

As a member of the Chicago Bears, linebacker Lamarr Houston is supposed to hate the Green Bay Packers. But there’s one player in particular who really gets under Houston’s skin, and that is Aaron Rodgers.

Houston has been critical of the way Rodgers carries himself in the past, and he was asked about the quarterback during an appearance on ESPN’s SportsNation this week. Let’s just say Houston’s opinion remains unchanged.

“He’s a little arrogant for me,” he said, per Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com. “He’s a little too arrogant. He’s a cheesehead. I’m a Bear. He’s a cheesehead.

“But I have a lot of respect for his game, I will say that. He’s a great quarterback. As a player, I have a lot of respect for him … but the whole championship belt thing kind of gets on my nerves.”

Houston was, of course, referring to Rodgers’ discount double check celebration, which has been mocked by numerous opponents such as this one.

After the Bears came away with an upset at Lambeau Field last November, Houston unloaded on Rodgers.

“I didn’t really look at him after [the sack], because I don’t give two flying [expletive] about him,” he said. “I really don’t like that guy.”

Rodgers definitely has a certain cockiness about him, and that’s part of what makes him such a great player. It’s also the reason he rubs some people the wrong way. Even if you’re a Rodgers fan, you probably understand where Houston is coming from.
