The Los Angeles Chargers’ contract ultimatum has not changed running back Melvin Gordon’s stance on reporting to the team.
Gordon still has no intention of reporting to the Chargers ahead of Week 1, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. The Chargers running back continues to sort through potential trade destinations after the team gave him permission to seek them.
Chargers running back Melvin Gordon does not plan to report for Week 1 as he sorts through potential trade options during his holdout, according to a source. My understanding is only a new development would bring him in.

It appears that the only way Gordon reports is if he’s traded. The Chargers essentially said they would not negotiate during the season, which was perhaps meant to force Gordon into a decision. That decision appears to be that it’s new contract or bust, and if he has to keep sitting out, so be it.
The 26-year-old ran for 885 yards and ten touchdowns in 2018.
