Teddy Bridgewater has not started a game in two years, but that apparently does not mean he will have to sign with a team as a backup quarterback this offseason.
With the Minnesota Vikings reportedly interested in bringing in Kirk Cousins, ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted on Sunday that there are “at least a handful of teams” that have expressed interest in signing Bridgewater to be their starter.
Spotted last night in Indianapolis: Vikings free-agent QB Teddy Bridgewater, who was there to speak to children about playing football. At least a handful of teams expressed interest in Bridgewater last week as a potential starting QB, as he does have a market.

There have already been reports that Bridgewater would be willing to sign a short-term deal to prove he is fully recovered from a devastating knee injury he suffered prior to the 2016 season. With all the uncertainty surrounding him, he has little chance of being paid like a top starter.
All that said, Bridgewater is a former first-round pick who is just 25. His future once looked very bright, and we know how many QB-needy teams there are in the NFL. While short-term contracts have backfired on some players in the past, Bridgewater’s best chance to prove he can start may be with that type of deal.
