Nick Foles reveals some details of pregame text message from Drew Brees
Nick Foles proved his past playoff success was not a fluke when he led the Eagles to a win over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, and a pregame message from Drew Brees may have helped the quarterback calm his nerves before the biggest game of his life.
On Monday, Foles confirmed reports that Brees texted him before kickoff of Sunday’s game. He said the overall message from the 39-year-old veteran was that even the Super Bowl is “just football.”

“He just reminded me that it’s just football,” Foles said. “There’s a lot of things going on — longer pregame, a big halftime show. But at the end of the day when you’re out there, the game will settle down and it will just be football. He was right.”
Many believed Foles stood no chance of duplicating his outstanding performance from the NFC Championship Game, but they were wrong. Foles took home Super Bowl MVP honors after completing 28 of 43 passes for 373 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also caught a touchdown pass on a gutsy trick play, which is one that the Eagles may have gotten from the high school both Foles and Brees played for.
