The Kansas City Chiefs put the kibosh on Patrick Mahomes playing basketball away from the field, and the quarterback has reacted in humorous fashion.
Mahomes was recorded on video playing basketball Monday at a local gym in Kansas, and the video went viral. The Chiefs saw the video and didn’t like seeing their franchise QB risking a freak injury over a pickup game and let him know.
Chiefs GM Brett Veach said they spoke with Mahomes’ agent to put an end to that.
VEACH: We spoke to Pat Mahomes’ agent and said Chiefs Kingdom can be assured there will be no more basketball for Pat. We were able to nip that in the bud.

Fast forward to Friday, and the Chiefs quarterback shared a video on his Instagram story of him playing a basketball video game. His caption for the photo was “Only hooping I’m doing these days.”

Playing basketball video games may not be as fun as playing the real sport, but that’s the most the team will allow him to do for now. You don’t want to see him pulling an Andrew Luck or worse.
