Rob Gronkowski has yet to say if he will continue his playing career in 2018, and perhaps he simply wants to play football somewhere other than New England.
Ken Laird, a producer for the “Kirk & Callahan” Show on WEEI in Boston, reported on Tuesday morning that the Patriots are planning to trade Gronkowski at some point between now and the NFL Draft.
Breaking: @KenLairdWEEI is reporting that Gronk is going to be traded in the next couple weeks.

It should be noted that Laird is not an actual reporter, but it would be pretty reckless of one of the biggest radio stations in Boston — which also happens to have exclusive rights to interviews with Tom Brady and other members of the Patriots organization — to throw out information like that if the source wasn’t trustworthy.
Given the way the offseason has gone for Gronkowski, a trade wouldn’t exactly be shocking. Albert Breer of The MMQB noted this week that he has been told by multiple teams that they intend to call the Patriots about Gronkowski, and Bill Belichick would almost certainly listen to the offers. In fact, one recent report indicated that Gronk grows increasingly likely to be traded the longer he remains indecisive about his future.
There have been rumblings that Gronkowski is not enjoying his time in New England anymore, and that could tie in with the issues Brady and Belichick have been having with one another. While Gronk is extremely important to New England’s offense, the Patriots won a Super Bowl without him just two years ago. Perhaps Belichick would prefer an extra first-round pick if his star tight end is becoming a headache.
