The Oakland Raiders’ dalliance with Christian Hackenberg was short-lived.
The Raiders waived Hackenberg, according to the NFL’s transactions wire.
The Raiders had acquired the quarterback in a conditional trade with the New York Jets in late May. By waiving him, they will no longer be on the hook for sending the Jets a 7th-round pick for the former Penn State quarterback.
If the Raiders are giving up on Hackenberg so quickly after acquiring him, you have to wonder how many other teams will still be willing to give him a look. The 2016 second-round pick has not thrown a pass in an NFL regular season game.
