Report: Dolphins could trade up for Ezekiel Elliott, Myles Jack
The Miami Dolphins are reportedly interested in both UCLA linebacker Myles Jack and Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott, and they might have to trade up in the draft for a shot at either player.
Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are exploring possibilities for moving up from their current spot at No. 13. While the team would be ecstatic if either Jack or Elliott slipped that far, the chances of it happening are not great.
The Dolphins would have been in prime position to land Jack or Elliott earlier this offseason, but they traded down from their former spot at No. 8 to acuire cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso from the Philadelphia Eagles. If Miami wants to move back into the top 10, the cost would not be cheap.
There has been some concern surrounding the status of Jack’s knee leading up to the draft, but Jason Cole of Bleacher Report noted on Monday that Dr. James Andrews is the one who repaired the cartilage in the knee and he has cleared Jack. While some teams might still be concerned about the red flag, Jack is still expected to be chosen early in the first round. Cole expects Jack to be a top-15 pick “no matter what.”
It’s worth mentioning that one of the teams that had the most interest in Elliott is no longer in play. The former Ohio State star is still hoping he gets chosen in the top five.
