Rodney Harrison: Giants players don’t respect Ben McAdoo
The New York Giants fell to 1-7 on the season following a humiliating 51-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in a nearly empty MetLife Stadium on Sunday. It was the most points they have allowed at home since 1964 and their worst start to a season since going 1-8 in 1980.
Ultimately, it seems like the dark days are back in East Rutherford and there’s a lot of talk about players quitting on head coach Ben McAdoo.
Although McAdoo insists the team played hard and never quit in Week 9, retired safety and two-time Super Bowl champion Rodney Harrison strongly disagrees.
During halftime of Sunday Night Football, Harrison, who now works for NBC, said that not only have Giants players quit on their coach, but that it’s become obvious they don’t respect him.
NBC's Rodney Harrison on the Giants: "When you don’t respect your coach, players will quit on you. I believe the Giants just flat out quit."

McAdoo has come under fire in recent weeks for the team’s struggles, as well as his decision to suspend both cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and cornerback Janoris Jenkins for separate incidents. He’s also faced heavy criticism for some of his public comments, including the way he repeatedly points fingers at quarterback Eli Manning while approaching other players like Ereck Flowers with kid gloves.
In McAdoo’s first season as coach, the Giants went 11-5 and returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2011, but have won only a single game since Odell Beckham Jr. and the team’s other wide receivers went on a boat trip to Miami prior to their wildcard game against the Green Bay Packers last year — a trip McAdoo dismissed as no big deal.
