The Seattle Seahawks may have won the Russell Wilson trade, but they moved on from one of the pieces they received in it on Sunday.
The Seahawks announced the release of tight end Noah Fant on Sunday after three seasons with the team. Fant, a 2019 first-round draft pick, was one of the players the Seahawks got from the Denver Broncos in exchange for Wilson.
The Broncos selected Fant 20th overall in 2019, and he was seen as a potentially useful piece when they shipped him to the Seahawks. He never quite made the tight end position his own in Seattle, and caught 48 passes for 500 yards and one touchdown for the team last season. In three total seasons with Seattle, he caught five total touchdowns.
No matter what, the Seahawks still got the better of the Broncos in that deal. The Seahawks brought in the likes of Boye Mafe and Devon Witherspoon with the picks they got from the Broncos, while Denver was left holding a massive bill for a quarterback who did not perform for them.
Fant does not turn 28 until November. He should find a new team quickly given his age and track record.
