Mariota came in last Sunday in relief of Blaine Gabbert, so this always seemed to be the way is was trending. He was even showing steady improvement in practice before that game. He proved that he could get through a game against Jacksonville, going 12-of-18 for 100 yards even though he didn’t start. On the evidence, Sunday should be no problem for him.
