Tre Mason working toward NFL return
Former St. Louis Rams running back Tre Mason missed the 2016 season in the wake of several run-ins he had with police, and it is going to be difficult for him to convince a team that he deserves another shot. One former teammate believes Mason will get it.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Ricardo Louis, who played with Mason in college at Auburn, told TMZ this week that he has been working out with Tre. According to Louis, Mason is as motivated as ever.
“He’s waiting for the draft to come, and after the draft he’s gonna pick a team to go play for,” Louis said. “Obviously he’s not with the Rams anymore, but he’s been working. He might get on a team and pick up right where he left off.”
Mason, 23, averaged just 2.8 yards per carry in 13 games with the Rams back in 2015. He was released by the Rams last year following numerous incidents in which the police were called to his home. During one of those incidents, he allegedly made some incredibly bizarre statements and punched a hole in a wall. He later led police on an ATV chase that ended with him locking himself inside his house and his mother speaking to officers.
Last summer, Mason’s mother said that her son has a “10-year-old’s mindset” as a result of injuries he suffered playing football.
It would be incredibly unfortunate if Mason’s once-promising career ended on such sour terms.
