Trent Cole was drafted by the Eagles in 2005 and spent the last 10 seasons with the club. On Tuesday, his tenure in Philadelphia came to an end and the two-time Pro Bowler was none to happy about it.
Cole was set to make $10 million the upcoming season and had a salary cap number near $12 million. There was hope he and the team would be able to restructure his contract but, ultimately, the Eagles opted to release the veteran linebacker.
Understandably, Cole was not happy about the news, which isn’t at all surprising considering the Eagles are the only NFL franchise he’s known. Cole let some of his frustrations out via his Twitter account and delivered a parting shot on the way out the door.
No respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caption that!

While football is indeed a game, it’s also a business and NFL teams have the challenge of working with a salary cap, which Cole became a casualty of. However, Trent Cole wasn’t the only member of the Eagles to find out he would not be with the team next season. LeSean McCoy was traded to the Bills for Kiko Alonso.
