No matter the sport, being a rookie is tough. As if the growing pains of stepping up to the professional level on the field aren’t rough enough, you have the rookie hazing away from it.
Whether it’s paying for dinner, running out on the court alone, or having to dress like Gumby, having to go through something generally unpleasant is part of your first season in the league.
For Washington Redskins rookie kicker Zach Hocker, a pretty horrendous haircut is part of his introduction into the NFL. The seventh round draft pick from the University of Arkansas posted the above photo to his Twitter account on Wednesday with a caption that is shared by many during year one:
“No one ever said your rookie season would be easy…”
Hocker is definitely right about that, and this photo will always serve as a reminder.
