Capitals coach agreed with goalie interference that took away goal
There was no homerism from Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz about a goalie interference call that took away a goal from his team in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday.
Early in the first period of Game 3, Devante Smith-Pelly interfered with Vegas Golden Knights goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, allowing a shot to go in. The officials said there was no goal due to goalie interference.

Trotz agreed with the call.
“I didn’t think it was a goal,” Trotz told NBC Sports. “I think it was incidental contact. I didn’t think their goaltender went in, so good call by the referees.”
Smith-Pelly ended up being called for 2-minute minor penalty for the interference.
