Ryan Malone told police he was ‘baffled’ there was cocaine in his pocket

Ryan-MaloneFree agent NHL forward Ryan Malone was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence and possession of cocaine back in April. He apparently auditioned for the TV show “Cops” during his run-in with police.

According to a police report obtained by the Tampa Bay Times, Malone immediately went to the “that’s not mine” excuse when an officer found a bag of cocaine in his pocket.

Malone told (officer) Visser he didn’t believe the officer planted the drugs on him, according to the documents, but he was “baffled” because he was wearing the same jeans for three days.

“I asked where it came from,” Visser wrote in his report. “And he said he was just shocked.”

If you’re going to pretend the coke isn’t yours, that’s fine. It never works, but to each his own. The part I don’t get is why he told the officer that he had been wearing the same jeans for three days. Did Malone think that would help his case? At least say they’re somebody else’s pants. Amateurs…

Malone was bought out by the Tampa Bay Lightning a few weeks after his arrest.
