Stan Verrett is keeping busy following his exit from The Worldwide Leader.
The former ESPN anchor Verrett has landed a new job with FanDuel Sports Network, Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reported Thursday. Verrett will be serving in multiple roles for his new network, most notably as the pregame and postgame studio host for the LA Clippers and as the host of his own weekday show starting this fall.
Glasspiegel notes that Verrett has an interesting connection with FanDuel — Norby Williamson, the president of production at Main Street Sports Group (which is the parent company of the FanDuel networks), used to be a high-ranking executive at ESPN. You can read Glasspiegel’s full report on the situation here.
Verrett had spent the last 25 years working at ESPN, most prominently as the co-anchor for the 10 PM PST edition of “SportsCenter” ever since 2009. But the network made the decision earlier this year to let Verrett go upon the expiration of his contract in the summer.
The previous host of pregame and postgame studio coverage for the Clippers was Jeanne Zelasko. FanDuel Sports Network holds the regional broadcast rights to Clippers games, so Verrett is set to become a fixture for the team as their new studio host.
Just last month, we heard that Verrett had also landed a high-profile gig as a pregame host for an NFL team. Now Verrett is taking his talents to NBA coverage too as a the studio host of the Clippers, who play not too far away from the ESPN Los Angeles Production Center where Verrett spent his time anchoring “SportsCenter.”
