Yoel Romero did not s— his pants during fight, he was just sweaty

Yoel Romero shorts

Those watching Yoel Romero’s fight on Wednesday night against Derek Brunson at UFC Fight Night 35 were fascinated with a particular spot on the back of Romero’s shorts. There was one particularly dark spot, located directly in a certain area, that made it look like he had, ahem, evacuated his bowels at some point during the scrap.

Facing crappy questions after his victory, Romero said he was just sweating.

“It was wet,” Romero said via MMA Junkie. “It was sweat.”

The tape seems to indicate otherwise.

I’m all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but there was no darkness anywhere else around his shorts despite him likely sweating all over. Only in that one particular spot.

It’s not looking good for Romero, regardless of what he says. And as MMA reporter Ariel Helwani noted, fighters going number two while they’re battling is nothing new.

It’s easy to see how a fighter could lose control while they’re fighting for their life in the octagon. Hmm, what’s a higher priority, escaping a choke hold? Or making sure I don’t bleep myself? I know which option I’m choosing if it comes down to it.
