Maria Sharapova not happy with US Open’s negative Nadal headline
Is the glass half full or half empty? For Maria Sharapova, she prefers the optimistic side of things.
Sharapova responded to a tweet sent out by the US Open’s Twitter account Saturday about Rafael Nadal by applying a positive spin to it.
Following Rafa’s third-round loss to Fabio Fognini, the US Open’s account pointed out that 2015 would mark the first time since 2004 that Nadal would not capture a grand slam.
A much more appropriate headline would be he HAS won a grand slam EVERY year in past 10 (TEN!!) years. #respect? https://t.co/ODtiO0Byeb

Look, we get that you’re trying to see everything in positive light, Maria, but the way the tweet was written, I think most people would be in awe of Nadal. That’s pretty impressive that he had won at least one grand slam in every year since 2005, and the tweet said as much.
What’s funny is that now that Sharapova is not playing in the tournament because of an injury, she finds herself like everyone else: weighing in on debates, criticizing and being a commentator. She has a nice second career lined up for after she retires, you know, in case she ever tires of the whole candy thing.
