Jeremiah Trotter tells Jason Babin to stop worrying about ‘vile’ Eagles fans

Jeremiah Trotter took aim at Jason Babin for complaining about the lack of support from Eagles fans.

Babin, who is in his third season with Philadelphia, ripped Eagles fans for being disloyal and chanting “vile things” during the team’s home loss to the Falcons last weekend.

Trotter played eight seasons with the Eagles over three different stints. He thrived as a member of the organization, reaching the Pro Bowl four times during his career — all when he was with Philly. As a player who was successful with the team, he felt the need to set Babin straight.

“When I hear some of this talk man it really, really pisses me off, because you’re focused on the wrong thing,” Trotter said on 97.5 The Fanatic, per Philly Mag.com. “You should be focusing this week on the Saints, not focusing on what the fans are saying, or putting things on Twitter saying this or that. Come on, dude. Go out and win some games. Let the fans do what they’re gonna do. Fans are still going to be fans, and they have every right to boo you if you don’t go out and put a good product on the field.

“Dude, get a grip, this is football. You’re a man. Why are you worried about what people say anyway? I understand that players have feelings, but you’re a man. You’re playing a gladiator sport, and you’re running around worried about what fans are talking about? Even if I did feel a certain way you would never hear me say it because number one, you are showing your weakness right there. You’re playing a gladiator sport, dude. Go play ball.”

Wow, talk about a slam job. Trotter was extra harsh, but I understand where each person is coming from.

Trotter wants to see the Eagles successful, so when the team is 3-4, the last thing he wants to hear is a player complaining about the fans. Babin probably feels like the team should have the support of the fans, and that they won’t perform as well at home unless the fans are behind them.

The problem here is the Philly sports fans are what they are. They’re the same fans who cheered when Bulls big man Joakim Noah got hurt in the playoffs last season, and they said Jayson Werth deserved his injury when he got hurt.

The fans chanting vile things has to be expected, so complaining serves no purpose — Philly fans are not going to change. The only thing that will make them behave differently is the team winning. That pretty much would solve all the problems for the Eagles, actually.
