Joe Flacco on Ravens Struggling: I Probably Would Have Wanted to Boo too

Before putting together their biggest comeback in franchise history Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens were down 24-3 to the lowly Cardinals. Their offense had two punts, a fumble, and a field goal in its first four possessions. Add that to the team’s 12-7 loss against Jacksonville Monday night, and the Ravens were looking like one of the worst teams in the league. The poor offensive performance over those six quarters prompted fans to boo. Quarterback Joe Flacco said after the game he understood the fans’ decision to boo.

“I don’t go to a lot of football games, but I probably would have wanted to boo if I was in the stands, too,” Flacco said. “We weren’t looking too good. We weren’t playing too well.”

He added that you can take the boos if you come back to win a game, which is something Baltimore did. They scored touchdowns on their drives in the third quarter, and racked up just over 400 yards. Flacco overcame a slow start to throw for 336 yards. Anquan Boldin had 7 catches for 145 yards — most of which came in the third quarter.

What’s funny is that Ray Rice had three TDs while Bolding had 145 yards receiving. Those are the two players pass rusher Terrell Suggs said needed to get more touches. He was exactly right.

The Ravens go to Pittsburgh next, and then Seattle. The fans won’t have another chance to boo for a few weeks.
